what does History Maker Generation do?
History maker Generation is a youth organization that was established in 2002.
For the past 19 years through HMG, we were able to touch more than 10,000 young lives to empower the youth of the Nation and even beyond.
Many of the youth of Sri Lanka are hurting or broken, therefore they tend to turn into unhealthy substances. Such as Tobacco, pornography, alcohol and violence or as the final step even suicide.
Sri Lanka has gone through several insurgencies and a 30-year prolonged war, where the youth was sacrificed or affected, and it has caused the youth to feel worthless and unimportant, which caused them to have an identity crisis. We as an organization believe that we are able to be the light to the hopeless situation that we see in the youth during this day and age.
The vision of our organization is to raise up leaders that will transform the Nation. If the youth are directed and mentored in the right manner, they are able to be the better version of themselves and every person is a leader, as they lead themselves in different ways and aspects. As they lead themselves and with an extra push of positivity, they are able to make the change that they ought to see. In a time where negativity is an overflow, we spread the positivity through the different trainings that we have.
The mission of our organization is to mobilize, equip and impact. We mobilize youth and young adults and equip them with the required tools that is needed to be the better version of themselves or to rise up and be the leader that they need to be to make a positive impact in the nation
Currently we have couple of trainings that are being hosted.
- The training that focuses on equipping women is called “FEARLESS”. In a male dominant country women need to be fearless to step out of their comfort zone and rise up. We also mobilize volunteers from different professional backgrounds to share their story with the women to empower and equip them.
- We also have an internship program that is dedicated to the students who have completed their O/L’s or A/L’s and awaiting results. As they complete their secondary education and plan to move on either with their higher education or their professional field, we will be supporting, mentoring and guiding them to make the right decision and to fulfil their destiny. During the training we will be covering the topics such as, career guidance, Interview preparation, computer literacy and presentation skill.
