Empowering Leadership and First Aid Education: A Remarkable Community Trip to Sri Lanka

Introduction:

Leadership In Action Pvt Ltd, in collaboration with the Nursing School of Applied & Health Sciences, Institute of Technical Education, Singapore, proudly organized a transformative Community Trip to Sri Lanka. From 25th to 30th June 2023, a group of 20 students and 2 lecturers embarked on an extraordinary journey, immersing themselves in the captivating landscapes of Sri Lanka, gaining insights into its healthcare system, and conducting first aid training sessions in local schools. This trip aimed to foster leadership skills and strategic partnerships to drive positive change.

Day 1 – 26th June:

Welcoming and Orientation The journey commenced with a warm welcome and a comprehensive orientation session by Leadership In Action Pvt Ltd. Participants were introduced to the captivating culture and customs of Sri Lanka, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience.

Site Visit to Aaniyakanda Hospital: In the afternoon, the group embarked on an insightful visit to Aaniyakanda Hospital. This visit offered a unique opportunity to explore the inner workings of the healthcare system, observe medical practices, and engage with healthcare professionals, providing invaluable firsthand experience and expanding their knowledge in the field of healthcare.

Day 2 – 27th June:

Empowering Students with First Aid Skills First Aid Session at WP/GM/Sri Seelananda Maha Vidyalaya, Kossinna, Ganemulla: A comprehensive first aid session was conducted at Sri Seelananda Maha Vidyalaya, Kossinna, Ganemulla. The session aimed to empower students with life-saving skills, equipping them to respond effectively in emergency situations.

Evening First Aid Session with 200 Kids at Palliyawatta: A special first aid session was organized for 200 enthusiastic kids in Palliyawatta. The interactive session focused on spreading awareness about first aid practices, ensuring the safety and well-being of the young participants.

Day 3 – 28th June:

Extending First Aid Education First Aid Session at WP/NG/Munnakkaraya ST. Nikula S.M School, Negombo: Continuing their commitment to empowering communities, the group conducted a first aid session at Munnakkaraya ST. Nikula S.M School, Negombo. Through interactive demonstrations and hands-on activities, students were equipped with essential first aid knowledge.

Evening First Aid Session with Kids 2 at Munnakkara: An additional engaging first aid session was conducted with children in Munnakkara, instilling confidence in their young minds and enabling them to become capable first responders.

Day 4 – 29th June:

Empowering Students and Leaders First Aid Session at WP/GM/Ellakkala Maha Vidyalaya: A comprehensive first aid session was held at Ellakkala Maha Vidyalaya, equipping students with essential life-saving skills and ensuring their preparedness in handling emergencies.

Leadership Training Session by Leadership In Action Pvt Ltd: An engaging leadership training session was facilitated, immersing participants in valuable insights and honing their leadership skills. This empowerment aimed to drive positive change in their respective fields.

Day 5 – 30th June:

Celebrating a Successful Journey Cultural and Educational Sightseeing and Lunch in Galle: To celebrate the successful journey, the group embarked on a day of cultural and educational sightseeing in Galle. From exploring historical landmarks to immersing themselves in the vibrant local culture, they absorbed the rich heritage of Sri Lanka while enjoying a delightful lunch.

Conclusion: Leadership In Action Pvt Ltd expresses sincere appreciation to the CCA-Singapore Nurses Association (SNA) for entrusting them with the organization of this transformative Community Trip. With the objectives of building leadership at all levels of society and developing strategic partnerships, the dedication and enthusiasm of the participants from the Nursing School of Applied & Health Sciences, Institute of Technical Education, Singapore, have left a positive impact on the communities visited. Together, they have created lasting memories and taken significant steps towards building a stronger and more resilient society.
